Strong rise in cargo handling
Record zero waiting time at Chattogram Port

Chattogram Port has set a new operational benchmark by achieving zero waiting time for vessels, strengthening Bangladesh’s maritime competitiveness at a critical point for global supply chains. The port handled 2.849 million TEUs (1 TEU = one 20-foot container) in the latest reporting period, marking a 12.64% increase in total cargo handling.
Port authorities noted that enhanced berth productivity, improved yard management, and coordinated digital operations across port users have sharply reduced vessel congestion. Exporters and importers say the improvement is lowering lead times and cutting logistics costs at a time when timely shipments are essential for the apparel and textile trade.
Industry analysts add that if the zero-waiting-time performance is sustained, it will significantly enhance Bangladesh’s trade efficiency and support the country’s growing containerized cargo demand.
